A post from my OWN mother

I know that some of you know my child (now a young adult) through her blog and that some of you are mothers who are reading it. Life with lifeofthedifferentlyabled has not always been easy.

She has been a determined person when the area of concern have been important to her but she is incredibly resistant if something is not on her agenda. One of the areas that really drives me crazy is the improvement of physical ability. I believe that she could gain the ability to walk and at least be better at taking her weight and thus make transfers easier when helping her. She resists the practise that is going to change her life. That seems to be my goal and not hers. That is probably one of the most challenging pieces as Mom- to realize that your dreams are not necessarily those of your child’s and thus learning to be ok with that.

This is great – thanks so much for sharing! Life – after reading this, I’m convinced that Monkey is very much like a younger version of you. That gives me a lot of hope for his future.
