About lifeofthedifferentlyabled

Laura Forde founded her blog through my eyes: my life with cerebral palsy in December 2009 out of a great need she had, realizing that there was a vast gap in firsthand accounts of what life was like living with Cerebral Palsy: she knew then that the only way to see this reflected online was to create the change herself and thus this blog was born Laura was born four months premature, weighing a mere one pound three ounces and given ten percent odds for survival. She was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at the age of three. After graduating from college, she continued writing and doing what she loves to do most; speaking to groups about her life experiences and sharing what she has learned from her journey. Her blog lifeofthedifferentlyabled was created after discovering that the online community lacked the voice of people in her situation. In its first year, the site saw over 20,000 hits from all over the world. Her readers are from all walks of life; some with disabilities, parents of children, professionals, and others who seek to gain a better understanding of the world of the differently abled. I know one young man, aged 27, had many concerns keeping his food in! He had some stomach surgery in his life that seemed to cause a lot of upset.
This is only hearsay from a story from the young man.
After a few sessions of ABM he felt much better and his stomach felt better too.

My daughter is 40 years old and has cp. When I was givnig birth to her they did not do a c section instead she was forced out and we both almost died. My daughter had 4 or 5 seizures right after birth. At 3 months her soft spot was swollen on the top of her head and she was laying limp in my arms when I was turned out of a hospital with the statement that she did not have a doctor in that hospital. It took minutes into a hour to get her to another hospital. This hospital took one look at her and rushed her into the emergency room. Later she was diganosed with meningitis. I was told by the welfare department to take her to social security because they could not help me until ss helped her first. They refused to help me with her and told me that she would be able to work one day. She was only 2 or 3 years old. I raised her and her 2 sisters and brother by myself. She had seizures all of her childhood. This is actually the first time I have ever told this to someone that listens.
