I think I was about four when I had my first major surgery. The surgery was a tendon / hamstring lengthening procedure. It worked. It has truly allowed for better range of motion. I don’t remember much from life before this but I do remember the chore it was to get me me to stand flat footed as before this I was on my tip toes that was my natural standing posture due to my spasticity.
With many hours of post opt therapies which included sleeping in a splint made from the cast to make sure that my legs stayed stretched so they would learn what the new normal would be. I hated sleeping in the cast it made the idea of sleeping awkward but you will be happy to know that my heels are now on the floor I am flat footed.
