I don’t know where I would be if it not for the social media and the internet of today. Okay that may sound a little strange. But look back at just how far technology has come from car phones to cell phones and smart phones. For me I feel like technology is an equalizer and it can really bridge the gap when going out in winter when snow makes such travels more challenging. It has enhanced my sense of community
why building online community bridge between social isolation and mobility limitation
Living in a climate where our winters feel longer than anything else, sometimes I find it a challenge to get out and about. I find that is a time when it is especially nice to grow up in the age of the internet.
But it is not all about the seasonal issues of mobility. It is about creating a sense of community that is secondary to one’s disability. It is about leveling the playing field and bringing socially engaging activities into our lives. So I ask you this why is it so important to build an online community? I think that it simply makes sense that if you can’t get the activity you should bring the activities of social engagement to yourself via the internet
