I finally got a new computer; I bought an ultrabook machine with dragon 12 (amazon affiliate) and windows 8 to be exact! I bought office home and student which has word, excel, powerpoint and onenote 2010. I won’t go into the finer details of that, but here are my first impressions.
First impression of dragon 12 and windows 8
I went from dragon 9.5 to 12.0 and yes there is a vast difference it the accuracy. Also it has web-mail integration now, which means it works with Hotmail/windows live mail, and Gmail – this is a feature that I have wanted for YEARS! I will admit, I am typing this post by hand because there is a fair amount of noise around me and I know it would work well. But habits die hard, and I am so used to typing that I really feel like I am talking to myself. Actually I realize it may just be a personal hangup of mine in terms of blogging because I used to use dragon all the time for academic purposes.
Another cool feature of the new version of dragon though I am not sure if it was released with version 11 or 12 but it is the ability to update facebook and twitter with one command. You don’t even need the site you want to update to be open it’s awesome!
One word of caution about Dragon the new version is the only one that works with windows 8 and as of today it it does not yet work with office 2013 but works beautifully with office 2010.
Windows 8 was a bit of an adjustment for me to say the least. I don’t know if you’ve been following along if you have, you will realize that I came from a Windows XP computer. So needless to say, Windows 8 was an adjustment. That isn’t to say, I never used: Vista, or Windows 7 but XP was my primary machine.
Do any of you have Windows 8 yet? What do you like, or dislike about it? Do you use dragon 12 and windows 8 have you had any issues with it?
